Cape Cod Museum of Natural History

  • Details
Founded in 1954, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History encourages and advances understanding of our natural environment through discovery and learning. The museum is set on 80-acres, abutted by 300 acres of town-owned conservation land. Two floors of exhibits feature the flora and fauna of Cape Cod, including exhibits on whales, indigenous birds, and coastal change, and several an aquarium housing different species of crustaceans, mollusks, fish, frogs, turtles and snakes. Several displays are interactive and geared to children. Special, temporary exhibits enhance the permanent collection. The Museum also has a library and Museum Shop. Three nature trails meander through woodland, salt marsh or on the shore of Cape Cod Bay and guided field walks are offered year round, daily in summer. Lectures and workshops on natural history topics are offered year round, and there are special programs for children, as well as school vacation programs and KidSummer, to engage them in nature. Outside its boundaries, the Museum leads popular Wednesday Walks to different locales around the Cape. Trip dates and migrate_locations are listed under Calendar on our website. Directions: 30 minutes from the Sagamore Bridge, Exit 9B, 134N, 6A east to Brewster 869 Route 6A Brewster, MA 02631
