Cape Cod Quahog Day

Cape Cod Quahog Day

The 10th Annual Cape Cod Quahog Day will receive a mighty dose of broadcasting flair thanks to this year's emcee, Cape Cod native and WCVB-TV Boston anchor and reporter Doug Meehan!

Meehan will host the festivities at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, the First Day of Summer, at the Pilot House Restaurant & Lounge at Sandwich Marina.. He will work alongside Cape Cod’s other infamous “Doug”, the region’s beloved official Quahog since 2009, to share his highly anticipated annual summer beach forecast.

The Quahog Day tradition has become a rite of passage into summer for Cape Cod residents. Kicking off the summer season, Doug the Quahog tells us how many days of beach weather we have to look forward to during the season. During his "Prognostication Ceremony," Doug secretly whispers his prediction into the ear of his human sidekick, Johnny Quahog, aka The Secretary General of Quahog Republic.

Doug has a shell of a reputation on Cape Cod. During the event, he is escorted by a Quahog Security Detail, a team of black-suited men and women armed with clamming rakes. Read the stories of some of Doug's loyal Quahog Security Members.

Come witness history in the making! Join us on the First Day of Summer in 2018 when Doug is back again with his highly anticipated prediction! The 10th Annual Quahog Day will be sponsored by Rockland Trust and supported by Sandwich Chamber of Commerce.

And be on Doug Watch all year long: Like Doug on Facebook, follow him on Twitter, find him on Instagram and watch his escapades on Vine.
