WaterWORKS 2024 – The Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation, along with its organizing partners – the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, Cape Cod Community College, Cape Cod Regional STEM Network, Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance, Woods Hole Sea Grants, and Barnstable Public Schools – are pleased to present the 2024 WaterWORKS Blue Economy Career Day, on Tuesday, January 16th at Cape Cod Community College, with support from the following sponsors: Vineyard Offshore, Steamship Authority, Cape Cod Five Savings Bank, Housing Assistance Corporation, Bay State Wind/Orsted, Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, MassHire Cape & Islands Workforce Board, Beacon Marine Construction Co., Massachusetts Marine Trades Association, and Avangrid.
“As the lifeline to the Islands and one of the Cape’s largest employers, being a sponsor of WaterWORKS Career Day was a must for our 2024 recruitment plans,” said Janice Kennefick, Director of Human Resources for Steamship Authority. “We’re pleased to put our support behind this event to connect qualified, enthusiastic candidates for the multitude of blue economy employment opportunities in our backyards.”
WaterWORKS invites high school students from Barnstable, Dukes, Nantucket and Plymouth County to a half-day program at the Cape Cod Community College West Barnstable Campus. The career showcase highlights the broad array of jobs available to them through demonstrations, exhibits, interactive displays, and hands-on activities.
“It is our pleasure to once again host WaterWORKS at Cape Cod Community College,” said Dr. John Cox, President of the College. “The future of our regional workforce lies in the Blue Economy, which makes this event a real game-changer for employers, our current students, and future students. With the Frank and Maureen Wilkens Science and Engineering Center on campus, serving as the new hub for STEM education in our region and beyond, and modern programs that are training the next generation of Blue Economy professionals, we stand ready to play a prominent role in addressing these needs into the future.”
Nearly 400 students will be in attendance, with 50 blue-industry businesses and organization on hand. Exhibitor space is still available. To register, please visit: https://www.bluecapecod.org/waterworks-career-day/
