Military Stories, Selected by Veterans and Military Leaders
As part of the monthlong recognition, Xfinity is introducing a special entertainment destination featuring movies, television series and documentaries selected by veterans and military community leaders.
Guest editors include Medal of Honor recipient Clint Romesha, Walt Piatt of Wounded Warrior Project, Lisa Hallett of wear blue: run to remember, and Manny Piñeiro of the USO. Each brings a personal perspective on military service and the stories that reflect its impact on individuals and families.
“Behind every uniform is a person with a family, friendships, and a story worth remembering,” said Hallett, a Gold Star spouse and co-founder of wear blue: run to remember. “Films have a way of bringing those experiences to life and reminding us that the impact of military service extends far beyond the individual.”
Xfinity members can explore the destination throughout November by saying “Military” into their X1 Voice Remote.
Partnerships That Support the Military Community
Beyond its products and services, Comcast continues to support nonprofit organizations working to expand opportunities and resources for service members, veterans and military families.
Over the past three years, the company has provided more than $41 million in cash and in-kind giving to organizations serving the military community.
That support includes millions of dollars in donated public service announcement airtime each year, helping organizations connect veterans and military families with mental health services, employment resources, educational opportunities and other assistance.
“One of the biggest challenges is making sure veterans and military families know what resources are available to them,” said Eric Eversole, President, Hiring Our Heroes, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. “Comcast’s support helps us reach people we might not otherwise connect with, raise awareness of our programs, and make it easier for those seeking assistance to know where to turn.”
Comcast's connection to the military community dates back to its founder, U.S. Navy veteran Ralph Roberts. Today, the company continues that legacy through its products, community partnerships and programs supporting military-connected individuals and families throughout the year.
