If you’ve ever paddled, biked, or explored Cape Cod with a fresh sense of wonder, there’s a good chance Mike Morrison and RideAway Adventures had something to do with it. As the self-described “original adventure instigator,” Mike founded RideAway Adventures with a simple but powerful mission: to connect people with nature—and with each other—through unforgettable outdoor experiences.

RideAway Adventures was born from what Mike jokingly calls a “good old-fashioned quarter-life crisis.” At 25, he stepped away from city life, traveled, and returned home inspired to create something meaningful on Cape Cod. Grounded in the belief that we’re not separate from nature but deeply connected to it, Mike envisioned an outdoor business rooted in education, storytelling, authenticity, and community.

Today, RideAway Adventures offers guided kayak, bike, and paddleboard tours and rentals, along with kids camps and convenient delivery services across Cape Cod. What truly sets RideAway apart is its fully certified guide staff, thoughtfully chosen scenic locations, and a deep commitment to creating experiences that are accessible, engaging, and memorable for all.

Community is at the heart of RideAway’s success. Mike serves on multiple local boards and committees, and the business proudly partners with organizations like the YMCA, Heroes in Transition, and NEMBA, among others. Over the past 18 years, RideAway has employed more than 500 local residents, including teachers and students—keeping opportunity and impact right here on the Cape.

The business continues to grow, recently opening its fourth on-water location at Haven Marina in Falmouth and expanding across three Cape towns. RideAway also launched a direct-access bike shop at 68 Tupper Road in Sandwich (Merchants Square), offering easy access to the Cape Cod Canal and nearby beaches.

Fun Fact: RideAway’s first location came from a spontaneous lightbulb moment. While driving past Wingscorton Farm in Sandwich on Route 6A—after passing it countless times—Mike finally pulled in, knocked on the door, and asked if he could turn an unused farm stand into a kayak rental hut. They invited him in for tea, and the rest is history.

For locals, RideAway offers an Adventure Pass with unlimited rentals across all locations, discounted tours, free buddy passes, and exclusive local events—making it easy to skip the gear logistics and simply enjoy the outdoors.

Mike shares, “Thank you to our fellow members for supporting our community and continuing to lift one another up. When we believe in each other and celebrate one another’s successes, we all grow stronger.”

We’re proud to spotlight Mike Morrison and RideAway Adventures—thank you for helping our community explore, connect, and thrive.
