Cape Cod Children’s Museum and Discovery Center began 35 years ago in a store front in Falmouth. Four mothers came together to build something more for their children. Today, the museum is still managed by four mothers and located in Mashpee, MA. We have created a community that welcomes all who are doing their best to raise great children! Our $3.5 million capital campaign is the foundation “For the Next 35”.

Children and families have faced significant challenges in recent years. We are seeing declines in math scores, increases in anxiety, a 50% reduction in play since the 1980’s and an epidemic of loneliness for both children and adults. Play is the single most important element of a child’s development. Play impacts a child’s success in school, self-esteem, resilience, curiosity, as well as their mental and physical health. CCCM provides a place where children can take risks, learn new skills, make friends and BE everything children are supposed to BE!

This $3.5 million campaign is the first of its kind in our 35 years. For CCCM this is an opportunity to ensure its success as a children’s museum for generations to come. Childhood is precious, and providing children a combination of education, independence, culture, and play, with those they love, is a privilege we honor every day. All the money donated to our campaign will go to the building of an incredible new facility. We have worked hard to be a fiscally responsible institution operating on our admissions, memberships, and events.

Take Care with Peanuts is curated by the Charles Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA and it is at our museum until September 2025! A fun, nostalgic, interactive exhibit where you can play in Snoopy’s doghouse, learn to cartoon, learn about Charles Schulz remarkable life and enjoy classic cartoons. If that’s not all, ticket sales go directly to our capital campaign!

We look forward to seeing you and your family at our museum. Please reach out to us at any time with questions, suggestions or donations. Email: Lisa Bates, Executive Director, lbates@visitcccm.org or better yet stop by for a tour!
