The Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) is dedicated to scientific discovery – exploring fundamental biology, understanding biodiversity and the environment, and informing the human condition through research and education. Our blend of research and education has been transformative for generations of biologists since 1888, when the first students and faculty arrived at the lab in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Established in the fall of 1982 as a self-sustaining independent non-profit entity, St. Peter's Nursery School has a rich history of serving the needs of families with toddlers and preschoolers. We believe in teaching to the whole child, recognizing that each child grows at his/her own rate in his/her own time. Children’s brains are programmed to learn through sensory/physical interaction with their environment. This “play” is crucial for fostering imagination, brain growth and responsibility. Our curriculum provides a balance between directed and non-directed play where children learn to think creatively and critically, problem solve, negotiate, compromise, take turns, follow directions, make decisions and accept consequences. At St. Peter’s, we believe in partnering with families to support children to reach their highest potential and to build a solid foundation for life.
We invite you to explore our website, learn about our programs and enrichment opportunities, schedule a visit, and experience firsthand what makes St. Peter’s Nursery School truly exceptional.
