Heritage Museums & Gardens is the largest public garden in Southern New England. It is located on 100 acres of magnificent grounds and trails on the banks of Shawme Pond in Historic Sandwich. Heritage holds a significant collection of specialty gardens and water features. Hidden Hollow™, an interactive family-friendly area, allows for play and exploration of the natural world. Heritage also has three gallery buildings housing automobiles, American folk art, historical artifacts, a vintage carousel, and special exhibitions.

Founded in 1954, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History encourages and advances understanding of our natural environment through discovery and learning. The museum is set on 80-acres, abutted by 300 acres of town-owned conservation land. Two floors of exhibits feature the flora and fauna of Cape Cod, including exhibits on whales, indigenous birds, and coastal change, and several an aquarium housing different species of crustaceans, mollusks, fish, frogs, turtles and snakes. Several displays are interactive and geared to children.
