Traditions play a big role in the development of any social organization. While many WDYC traditions have come and gone, many still remain. Harkening to the days when the club closed for the winter months, the Commissioning is held on Memorial Day weekend to mark the beginning of the summer season and typically features dinner and dancing. The Commodore’s Ball, typically Labor Day weekend, marks the passing of the flags to the new officers of the club for the coming year. This event is also normally marked by a dining and social event.

Flyer's has the largest fleet of boats for rent on Cape Cod - with power boats from skiffs to speedboats, and pontoon boats for larger parties, as well as one- and two-person ocean kayaks, Sunfish and Rhodes 19 sailboats. We also offer sailing lessons, as well as private sunset and party cruises. An hourly shuttle runs to the secluded Long Point lighthouse.
Pleasant Bay Community Boating, Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of educational and recreational opportunities in the Pleasant Bay Area of Cape Cod with primary emphasis on teaching sailing to youths 8 to 16. Four towns; Chatham, Harwich, Orleans, and Brewster share the shoreline of the Bay. Pleasant Bay Community Boating began in 2002 as a program vision of the Chatham Marconi Maritime (History and Science) Center (CMMC).
