    The Harwich Historical Society is a private, non-profit organization that collects, preserves, and presents the history of Harwich through exhibitions, education programs, active collecting, and research. The Society is housed in the historic Brooks Academy, a former school. Exhibits are open seasonally and feature an extensive display about cranberry culture along with seasonal and changing displays. The newly reconstructed Elmer Crowell Barn on the museum grounds presents the life and times of Harwich's famous bird carver. Programs are offered year-round; research & photo archives open year-round by appointment.
