Tours of Highland Lighthouse

A visit to Cape Cod National Seashore isn't complete until you've visited the historic Highland Light in North Truro. The 69-step climb up a narrow staircase rewards visitors with spectacular views of Cape Cod and beyond. On a clear day views extend more than 20 miles across the Atlantic Ocean and bay of Cape Cod. To ensure the safety of all visitors, the minimum height requirement to climb the lighthouse is 48".  Operated by Eastern National. $6 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Must be 48" tall to climb lighthouse.

The Edward Gorey House opens its 16th season on Thursday, April 12th with our new exhibit Murder He Wrote - Edward Gorey and the Art of the Mystery. Gorey was a life-long fanatic for the murder mystery genre. Crime writers—specifically Agatha Christie—but also including Dorothy Sayers, Georgette Heyer, Josephine Tey, Michael Innes, Margery Allingham, Edmund Crispin, and Cecil Street among others, were the passion of a man who some might have considered to be somewhat passionless.

Her Place by the Sea - The Alice Ware Armstrong Collection

This impressive collection of works of local artist, Alice Lucy Ware Armstrong (1876-1952), is on display at the Sandwich Glass Museum. Born in 1876 and deaf from an early age, Alice Lucy Ware Armstrong overcame the limitations of her disability and aspired to creative self-expression.  Her paintings were exhibited alongside some of the greatest Impressionists, and her woven goods were sold in Cape Cod's gift shops. Armed with the ability to lip read and speak, Alice pursued higher education, focusing on art.
