View the US CG36500 Gold Medal Boat

View the actual CG36500 motor lifeboat involved in the rescue featured in Disney's 2016 film The Finest Hours. The boat, fully restored and operational, is owned by the Orleans Historical Society and still plies its home waters of Cape Cod.  In May, the boat can be viewed at its winter home at Nauset Marine East in Orleans. There are no boarding times but the boat can be seen from the dock. The CG36500 is berthed during the summer months at Rock Harbor, Orleans.

Pete Culler's Boat Shop Exhibit

Pete Culler was a well-respected local boat designer and builder. His basic prinicples of design were simplicity and functionality. The Cape Cod Maritime Museum's Culler Exhibit is a replica of Culler’s shop and features many of his tools, both hand and powered, some of which he built himself! Museum is open daily, 10 AM – 4 PM.

Highland Lighthouse Tower Climbs

Tours of Highland Light will be offered on the following dates during Cape Cod Maritime Days:

April 13 through May 10 (every day excpet Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
Lighthouse Climbs: 12 PM to 4 PM
Keeper's Shop: 12 PM to 4 PM

May 11 through May 24 DAILY
Lighthouse Climbs: 12 PM to 4 PM
Keeper's Shop: 12 PM to 4 PM

May 25 through September 2 DAILY
Lighthouse Climbs: 10 AM to 5 PM
Keeper's Shop: 10 AM to 5 PM

Must be 48" tall to climb. Admission: $6 for adults; $5 for students and seniors
 

"Something Fishy" exhibit at Cape Cod Children's Museum

The Fish Market is a fun, interactive area where children and families learn firsthand about aquaculture, seafood, marine life and the fishing industry on Cape Cod.  The permanent exhibit includes a fishing trawler with tide pool, lobster trap, herring run and much more! 

Chatham Lighthouse Tours: May 1 and May 15

Located on the grounds of Coast Guard Station Chatham, Chatham Light has a long and rich history. Tours offered during Cape Cod Maritime Days are on Wednesday, May 1 and Wednesday, May 15 from 1 to 3:30 pm.  For a full schedule, click here. Proper footwear required. Free admission. 

Cape Cod's Largest Scrimshaw Collection

Come view Elizabeth H. and William Graham's personal Scrimshaw collection, which is the largest on Cape Cod. The collection is on display at the front of the Cape Cod Maritime Museum across from the newly remodeled gift shop. Come see the handmade teak cabinet that they are displayed in, and shop for the perfect nautical book, child's toy or CCMM clothing gift.

Maritime Lecture: History of Quivet Neck

Celebrate Cape Cod Maritime Days with this interesting maritime lecture!  Mary Kuhrtz presents "History of Quivet Neck, including the Sears families, Saltworks & Sea Captains." Open to the public. $5 donation requested. 2 pm.
