Presented by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on Saturday, June 11, at 7:30pm. Jazz guitarist Gerry Beaudoin is a leader, arranger, and guitarist who has combined the chordal techniques and sensibilities of Bucky Pizzarelli with the easy, bluesy swing of Kenny Burrell to create a unique style all his own. He has earned many awards, his work has been named on the Grammy Awards ballot three times, and he’s performed or recorded with many jazz and blues luminaries including Ronnie Earl, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, Jay McShann, Dick Johnson, John and Bucky Pizzarelli, Duke Robillard, Lowell Fulsom, Gatemouth Brown, Dave McKenna, Alan Dawson, three time Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Karrin Allyson, Grammy-winning saxophonist and arranger Fred Lipsius from Blood, Sweat and Tears, and harmonica legend Jerry Portnoy from the Eric Clapton and Muddy Waters bands. Performing with Gerry at this special concert is tenor saxophonist Harry Allen, one of the bright stars in jazz. Jazz critic Gene Lees writes, "Stan Getz was once asked his idea of the perfect tenor saxophone soloist. His answer was, 'My technique, Al Cohn's ideas, and Zoot's time.' The fulfillment of that ideal may well be embodied in thirty-year-old Harry Allen." The Swing Bros. recording artist has over thirty recordings to his name, three of which have won Gold Disc Awards from Japan's Swing Journal Magazine, while his “Tenors Anyone?” won both the Gold Disc Award and the New Star Award. Harry has performed or recorded with Rosemary Clooney, Hank Jones, Frank Wess, Scott Hamilton, Harry 'Sweets' Edison, Kenny Burrell, Herb Ellis, John Pizzarelli, Bucky Pizzarelli Tony Bennett, and many others. Justin Meyer on acoustic bass completes the trio. He has played and/or recorded with the Indian Hill Symphony, Bucky Pizzarelli, The New Black Eagle Jazz Band, Ken Peplowski, Toni Lynn Washington, David Amram, Chris Trapper, Jerry Bergonzi, and the Four Freshmen, among many others.  He also performs frequently at Boston Swing Central with his own band, The Meyertet, and other groups. Don’t miss these three extraordinary jazz artists. Visit the Cultural Center's website for information on their COVID policy. $25. Tickets at www.cultural-center.org or by calling 508-394-7100.
