The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents Nature’s Night Fundraiser at Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club 2907 Main St. in Brewster Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 5:30pm. The proceeds will benefit ecological restoration, bird banding, and education programs at the Stony Brook Sanctuary.
Our special guest and keynote speaker will be William Martin, New York Times bestselling author of 12 novels including Cape Cod (1991), and his latest, December ’41 (2022).
No stranger to Cape Cod, Bill’s 1991 novel Cape Cod intertwines the all too familiar local issue of land preservation vs. development with a “dangerous quest for a priceless relic of American history that has lain hidden in the Cape for over two hundred years.” Join us to hear about how Wing’s Island in Brewster is a part of that story along with Bill’s personal connection to the environment and his commitment to safeguarding our unique sense of place that is Cape Cod. Cape Cod will be available for purchase and Mr. Martin will be signing books.
We will also recognize and honor the volunteer efforts in preservation and conservation of Sue Finnegan for her 23 years bird banding on Wing Island, and Francis Smith from Trout Unlimited for his 50-year commitment of leadership to restoring the Quashnet River of Mashpee from an abandoned cranberry bog to an exemplary, nationally known, free flowing river of wild indigenous Brook Trout. Both Sue and Francis will receive the 2023 ‘Nature’s Ambassador' award.
Tickets: $100 ~ includes hors d’oeuvres, dinner, coffee & dessert station. Cash bar.
