Presented by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on Saturday, March 12, at 7:30pm. Don’t miss your chance to experience Naomi Westwater and the folk group Hawthorn, whose work combines music and music production with creative writing, visual art, intuition, and spirituality. Naomi is an Americana/Roots musician who was nominated for a 2020 Boston Music Award and has been featured in WBUR’s The Artery, Vanyaland, WGBH, Under the Radar, Atwoods Magazine, and The Bluegrass Situation. Hawthorn, a Boston-based group created by Heather Scott and Taylor Holland that is quickly gaining national recognition, “digs into its folk roots while also reminding us that tradition is about tending to the flame, not the ashes.” (NPR). Hawthorn was nominated for the 2019 and 2020 Boston Music Awards as well as the 2019 New England Music Awards. Notable appearances include The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Bust Out Boston, House of Blues Boston, and the International Herbal Symposium. Hawthorn’s newest LP, “Maggie Willow,” has been hailed as “a ghostly brilliant record” (Sound of Boston) and named to both WBUR and Sound of Boston’s top albums of 2019. “When they harmonize, the edges of their voices bleed together like watercolors on paper” (WBUR). Until further notice, ticket holders for Cultural Center events will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test conducted within 72 hours prior to the event.
