Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod Garden Tour: July 17

July 17, 2021
  • Details
    • Dates: July 17, 2021
    • Location: East Orleans, MA
    • Time: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Tip Talk Topic: The homeowner will offer talks at 11:00 and 1:00 to explain the Orleans Pollinator Pathways project and offer tips on how home gardeners can incorporate native plants, better manage their lawns, and reduce chemical use to protect and encourage our native pollinators to visit your garden.

Initially planted in 2008, the current owners inherited a garden with mature evergreens, spring-blooming trees and a lovely rhododendron “wall” framing the property. Expanding the perennial beds while focusing on multi-season color and plant diversity they included more native plants in an attempt to reduce their lawn and lessen the use of mulch. The property’s numerous beds have a densely planted, “cottage garden” style and incorporate nearly 100 hydrangeas of all sizes and colors. Over 30 types of day and oriental lilies will be blooming and provide a burst of color throughout the garden. As you walk the one-acre site, look out for the recently added Berry Patch, Fern Den, Shade Garden and a bed for late-summer dahlias. Garden open for tours: Wednesday, July 14th and Saturday July 17th.

The proceeds from this garden tour will benefit the Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod . Admission is $5 per garden tour. RAIN or SHINE.
