#1 Around the Corner Garden -  Hyannis
Open for Tours: July 9 (Tues) from 10 am to 1 pm, including a presentation at 11 am about how the gardener has greatly improved her soil fertility.

This unique garden in the middle of Hyannis focuses on growing edibles and native plants, using permaculture principles and local resources. Plantings include fruit trees—peaches, apples, plums, pears, and pawpaws—as well as a vegetable garden, herb garden, berry patches, and vertical gardens. Enjoy the backyard pond and chat with the gardener about all its special elements expertly arranged on this small lot. The owner will discuss how she has greatly improved her soil fertility at 11 am.

#2 Permaculture Food Forest on Long Pond and Centerville River -  Centerville
Open for Tours: July 9 (Tues) and July 10 (Wed) from 10 am to 4 pm
Come visit this evolving food forest bordering the Centerville River herring run and Long Pond. This minimal-care, nature-friendly landscape features mainly native plants and is designed to protect our precious water resources. As members of the Pollinator Pathway Cape Cod, the owners practice mostly “no-mow” lawn management utilizing clover as well as extensive use of layered mulching, hügelkultur raised beds, and numerous composting techniques including the use of biochar. The asphalt driveway has been replaced with pervious materials more beneficial to the environment, and the site hosts the first US installation of a FujiClean alternative septic system reducing nitrogen and phosphorus. Biochar will be available for purchase for the benefit of Resilient Roots.

The proceeds from the garden tours will benefit Resilient Roots. Rain or Shine. Price: $5 per garden.
