#1 Resilient Roots Garden -  Marstons Mills
Open for Tours: July 8 (Mon) and July 10 (Wed) from 10 am to 1 pm
Have an in-depth look at the Resilient Roots Garden at Fuller Farm, a Barnstable Land Trust (BLT) property. Resilient Roots leases land from BLT and has created a demonstration garden that showcases low-maintenance ways to grow a variety of fruits, herbs, berries, and support plants that provide nutrients and encourage beneficial insects. Enjoy our pollinator garden and fruiting hedge that feed people and wildlife. Sit by our mini pond and enjoy frogs and dragonflies, important parts of our insect-balancing plan. Enjoy our extensive vegetable beds that provide food to local pantries. We will be there to explain our eco-friendly approach to gardening.

#2 Permaculture Food Forest on Long Pond and Centerville River -  Centerville
Open for Tours: July 9 (Tues) and July 10 (Wed) from 10 am to 4 pm
Come visit this evolving food forest bordering the Centerville River herring run and Long Pond. This minimal-care, nature-friendly landscape features mainly native plants and is designed to protect our precious water resources. As members of the Pollinator Pathway Cape Cod, the owners practice mostly “no-mow” lawn management utilizing clover as well as extensive use of layered mulching, hügelkultur raised beds, and numerous composting techniques including the use of biochar. The asphalt driveway has been replaced with pervious materials more beneficial to the environment, and the site hosts the first US installation of a FujiClean alternative septic system reducing nitrogen and phosphorus. Biochar will be available for purchase for the benefit of Resilient Roots.

The proceeds from the garden tours will benefit Resilient Roots. Rain or Shine. Price: $5 per garden.
