Garden Tours to Benefit Osterville Village Library - July 9

    Garden #1 California Designer, Dorrit Kingsbury, Creates Her Own Four Season, Layered and Sculptural Garden in Osterville
    Designed to wow the senses with elegance and folly, this landscape invites both lively gatherings and peaceful respite. Using color as a sculptural element and evergreens for year-round definition and flair, the contrasting textures and forms feel luxurious yet accessible. Distinct focal points draw the viewer to visit the firepit shrouded by cherry trees, wind in and out of the hornbeam topiary arches, settle onto the bench at the end of the garden pathway and savor the sunset from the newest garden destination at the front of the property.      Garden #2 A Cocktail Garden
    Mint Juleps and Mojitos pair perfectly with the serenity of this backyard cocktail garden off Bumps River Road. But before you find your way to the secret retreat complete with an herb garden, cutting garden and potting shed, the front of the residence is awash in blossoms blue... with over 30 hydrangeas painting a panorama of Cape Cod class. Garden enthusiasts will find of especial interest the cutting garden and potting shed which pair with this landscape. Imagine fresh flowers cut for dinner and patio all season long! Date(s) Open for tours: July 8th and July 9th -  10-3 PM (last visitors arrive at 3)

    Garden #3 "Chorus of Color on Little Island" choreographed and conducted by Kara McGrath Designs
    Old fashioned blue Nikko hydrangeas create a vision of blue as you approach this property. Additional blue Hydrangeas fall over a white fence and frame the view of the large sunny back yard. Quick Fire and Lime light paniculata varieties of hydrangeas brighten up areas surrounding the patio. Soft periwinkle blue Buddleia bushes, Russian sage, pink Sedums and white Daisies thrive in this areas as well as attract pollinators and butterflies. Annuals and perennials fill out the colors in the gardens and tie in with the planters. Wandering around to the front, blue Nikko Hydrangeas, large white Annabelle Incrediball Hydrangeas, variegated Hostas and white Astilbes flow along the front of the house. Limelight and Quick Fire hydrangeas fill in sunny areas along with large Rhododendrons and other greenery. White whirling butterflies Gaura and other perennials add visual interest and movement around the flag pole. Completing the front, soft yellow Roses and blue annuals sit in front of pretty stone walls with white Stewartia trees towering above. Date(s) Open for tours: July 9th  and 10th  10 AM - 3 P M

     Garden #4 An Extraordinary Bayview Garden
     A Garden setting enhanced by spectacular views of West Bay. A small garden that contains a driveway border planting and the main theme: mature hydrangeas encircling the home overlooking the marsh and bird habitat of West Bay. A plein air painter's paradise.     Garden #5 Corner of Hathaway and Parker Rd Osterville
    Garden Brief Description: Enter a garden that has been tended and developed over many years. Transitioning through the space, Garden rooms of diverse horticultural palettes each offer unique experiences.  The great lawn embraces the entry space, layered with scaled plantings of evergreens and native perennials.  The rose arbor invites you to the family pool area, a peaceful pool garden surrounded by flowering borders of annuals and perennials. Beyond the pool is the shade garden, filled with textural foliage and a small koi pond; quiet sounds of wildlife create an oasis for reflection away from the buzz of the busy summer. A diverse plantings of perennials, annuals and shrubs and a floriferous cutting garden frame the front of the house. Date(s) Open for tours: July 9th  and 10th  10 AM - 3 P M
