Garden #1 A Wonder of Nature - Orleans
Nestled into a hillside overlooking Uncle Harvey’s Pond, this diverse garden is a series of garden rooms, with many native plants, that unfolds as one walks around the property. The front perennial garden unfolds with a mixed border of trees, shrubs and perennials. Past the front entrance is a small shade garden. The rear garden features two borders giving way to the untamed landscape beyond. Opposite this border is the Japanese garden under the large, shaded deck. As a visitor descends the hillside, they will experience a mix of ornamental and native shrubs and trees before arriving at a small path that leads to the pond. Open for Tours:  Wednesday, July 13 & Thursday, July 14

Garden #2 Ocean Bluff Garden -  Orleans
Gardening on this windswept bluff by the ocean is always a challenge.  The wind, salt air, and Mother Nature are constant competitors.  We continually experiment, and plant what we hope will survive and thrive.  But our plantings play second fiddle to the spectacular view of Nauset inlet, marsh, beach and ocean. This has been a family property for more than 100 years, and our grandchildren are the sixth generation to spend summers here.  The first house was a cottage ordered from the Sears catalogue, and the current home was rebuilt in 2015 after a major fire.  Feel free to visit the porch and the garden shed. Open for Tours:  Wednesday, July 13 & Thursday, July 14

Garden #3 An Abundance of Interesting Seasonal Plantings - Orleans
These gardens contain a variety of shade, sun, and mixed daylight exposures. At one time there were 33 trees that were blown down in a nasty storm eliminating a great deal of shade, however, fortunately, all plants survived! Plants have been added and rearranged in these gardens over a period of 19+ years. One of the owners’ favorite plants is the Hydrangea. Among the collection of Hydrangeas are the Big Leaf, Little Lime, Glowing Embers, Hobella, Jack Frost, Strawberries & Cream and Mophead varieties. The colors vary somewhat year to year, based on the ph of the soil. Open for Tours:  Wednesday, July 13 & Thursday, July 14

Garden #4 A Garden of Delight -  Orleans
This beautiful property is an ever-evolving work of love and is certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat. While most of the plants and bushes were already a part of the garden when the owners moved in, many modifications and improvements were made over the past 10 years. Highlights of the property include numerous hydrangeas, a water garden and waterfall flanked by grasses and a Japanese Red Maple. A winding wood chip path leads to a shade garden and raised beds planted with herbs, vegetables and flowers. Come visit and enjoy nature's bounty at it's best. Open for Tours: Thursday, July 14 only.
