Highfield Hall opens 2021 with the American Tapestry Biennial 13, an installation featuring 35 tapestries from around the world. This will be Highfield’s first exhibition showcasing the international juried show featuring the finest contemporary tapestry weaving.

The prestigious American Tapestry Alliance works to foster awareness and appreciation for tapestries of superior quality, designed and woven by individual artists, and educate the public about the history and techniques of tapestry weaving. Tapestry reaches back to antiquity and for centuries was the only weaving technique that could produce pictorial and figurative imagery. Tapestry weaving was employed throughout the world and through nearly every culture. In Europe, tapestry was considered the highest and finest of the arts, enjoying royal and ecclesiastic patronage from the Middle Ages through Renaissance period.
