Pilgrims First Landing

Cape Cod 2020

In 2020, the nation will recognize the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the Pilgrims. Cape Cod owns a big part of that story, and today there are sites you can visit to remember the determination and conviction of these early European settlers, who first landed in Provincetown, settled in Plymouth and eventually founded what today is the United States of America.

Visitors to Cape Cod and Plymouth can retrace the first footsteps of the Pilgrims in the New World by visiting the 30 historical landmarks below that are tied to this important piece of history, including Provincetown’s Pilgrim Monument, which commemorates the Pilgrims' historic landing, and First Encounter Beach, where the Wampanoag tribe and Pilgrims met for the first time.

Commemoration events will also be held in Plymouth and across Cape Cod throughout 2020. Mark these key 2020 events on your calendar!
