Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (W.H.A.T.)
Founded in 1985, W.H.A.T. is the award-winning non-profit theater on Cape Cod that the New York Times says brought “a new vigor for theater on the Cape” and the Boston Globe says “is a jewel in Massachusetts’ crown.” Boston magazine named W.H.A.T. the Best Theater in 2004 and the Boston Drama Critics Association has twice awarded W.H.A.T. its prestigious Elliot Norton Award. In addition to world-class theater, in 2011, W.H.A.T. staged its annual Yule for Fuel fundraiser, a cabaret series, a dance series and a series of sports films including the Teva Surf Series and the films of Warren Miller. The Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra stopped in for a handful of ensemble music performances and Counter Productions staged A Raisin In the Sun and Passing Strange. We’re on tap to do it again, and we hope you’ll join us. We’ve had broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera, National Theatre Live, ballet from The Bolshoi and The Royal Ballet, plus plenty of local programming that supports and sustains art made and enjoyed here in Wellfleet.
