Celebrate the Wonder: Cape Cod for the Holidays!

If you want to feel warm this holiday season, we suggest a little Cape! From late November through the first of January, tis’ the season on Cape Cod for seaside fun, festivity and fantastic shopping.

Fun-filled holiday-themed events on Cape Cod include:

November 20
Santa Arrives at Cape Cod Mall
Santa Claus and his elves will be on hand at Cape Cod Mall from November 20th through December 24th. Santa will be available to accept wish lists and pose for professional photos daily.  Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 am - 8 pm, and Sunday from noon - 6 pm, with short breaks to feed his reindeer. Additionally, he'll be available for pictures with our four-legged and winged friends on special Pet Photo Nights scheduled for November 23 and 30, and December 7 from 5-8 pm.

Lighting of the Pilgrim Monument

The annual lighting of the Pilgrim Monument, which celebrates the Pilgrims’ First Landing in America at Provincetown. 5 to 7 pm.

Holidays at Mashpee Commons

Mashpee Commons has plenty of fun, free holiday activities for the entire family!

Beginning at 3 pm on Friday, November 27th, enjoys live music, free horse-drawn carriage rides, caroling with the Mostly Dickens Carolers, the lighting of the Holiday Tree and more!  Santa will arrive at 3 pm and sit with children at Ghelfi’s Candies of Cape Cod in Central Square.  Bring your camera if you want a photo with Santa.

November 27-28
Artisans' Guild of Cape Cod Annual Holiday Fine Art & Craft Show
Nauset Middle School Gym, Route 28, Orleans. Gifts for everyone on your list: pottery, jewelry, clothing, photography, painting, woodworking  and more. All handcrafted by Cape Cod Artisans. November 27-December 13
Holidays at Heritage: An Old Fashioned Celebration!
Heritage Museums & Gardens, Sandwich. Visitors are invited to stroll the lighted paths, explore the Hart Family Maze and several lighting vignettes created by the area’s premiere landscape companies. Friday-Sunday only, 5-9 pm.

12th Annual Festival of Trees
Atwood House Museum, Chatham. Place silent auction bids on designer tabletop trees with ornamental themes. Also shop for wreaths, centerpieces and gifts, and tour the festively decorated historic Atwood House Museum. 2-4 pm.

The Holidays at Highfield
Highfield Hall, Falmouth. Enjoy Highfield Hall in all of its splendid holiday glory, with theme-decorated trees, florist-decorated fireplaces, and a host of creches on display from around the world. Juried artisans will be selling handcrafted items. 10 am to 4 pm.

Holiday on the Hill" art reception
Cape Cod Conservatory of Music & Arts, 60 Highfield Drive, Falmouth. Celebrate the season with a "Holiday on the Hill" art reception! From 6 till 8 pm, enjoy wine and appetizers, mingle with artists, and view exciting contemporary and traditional works of art.  The exhibit includes photographs, paintings, fiber art, monoprint, mixed media, and drawings from the region's best and brightest artists! Each piece is for sale with a 25% commission being donated to the Conservatory.

The Land's End Inn's "Holiday Gala Celebration"
5 to 9 p.m. All Cape Cod Chamber members are invited to join us this decade-old tradition at Land's End Inn in Provincetown. Come enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, homemade cookies and great company at this historic seaside inn. This event is open to the public and free of charge and marks the opening of Provincetown's Annual Holly Folly celebration.

Chatham Bars Inn Holiday Express

Join Chatham Bars Inn for a festive and enchanting train ride on the "CBI Holiday Express," a magical experience for children of all ages! Holiday Book Events at Yellow Umbrella Books
Stop by Yellow Umbrella Books at 501 Main Street in Chatham for some great holiday book events! On Saturday, December 19th, Chatham's own Debra Lawless will do signings of her book "Chatham in the Jazz Age" from 1 to 3 p.m. On Sunday, the store will welcome Brent Harold, author of "The Strange Interlude of The Tree in the House" from 1 to 3 p.m. From 3 to 5 p.m., join pet photographer Kim Roderiques, whose photos were featured in Duncan Birmingham's book "Pets Who Want To Kill Themselves."

New Year's Eve Celebrations, Cape-wide
 
Many towns on Cape Cod host celebrations, complete with costume parades and fun for the whole family. Chatham has First Night Chatham, one of the largest First Night events, with festivities including a celebration of the arts, noise parade, fireworks display and the popular "Dropping of the Cod" at midnight!
