Cape Cod Quahog Day

Cape Cod Quahog Day

Mark your calendar for the 8th Annual Quahog Day at 2 p.m. on the First Day of Summer - Monday, June 20, 2016 - at Mattakeese Wharf overlooking Barnstable Harbor!  The event will receive a mighty dose of broadcasting flair thanks to this year's emcee, NECN Meteorologist Pete Bouchard.

The annual Quahog Day tradition has become a rite of passage into summer for Cape Cod residents. Kicking off the summer season, the region's official Quahog—Doug—tells us how many days of beach weather we have to look forward to during the season. During his "Prognostication Ceremony," Doug secretly whispers his prediction into the ear of his human sidekick, Captain Johnny Quahog, aka The Secretary General of Quahog Republic.

Doug has a shell of a reputation on Cape Cod. During the event, he is escorted by a Quahog Security Detail, a team of black-suited men and women armed with clamming rakes. Read the stories of Doug's loyal Quahog Security Members.

Come witness history in the making! Join us at the June 20th Quahog Day for a whole lot of laughs and some complimentary chowder. Buy a limited edition Quahog Day tee that day provided for the event by Cape Cod Textile!
