Sand Dunes & Salty Air
Traveling east towards the Atlantic Ocean, you will pass picturesque cranberry bogs, salt marshes and breathtaking sand dunes. It is here that the awesome power of the ocean is revealed. Prosperous sea captains built majestic homes in Brewster. Harwich shows its proud history of cranberry cultivation. Chatham’s quaint Main Street gives way to the barrier beaches and fishing docks. Orleans offers village shopping and one of the largest charter boat fleets out at scenic Rock Harbor. Eastham, Wellfleet and Truro are small, intimate communities with many historic landmarks prominent in colonial history. The Cape Cod National Seashore begins in Eastham and travels the upper arm of the Cape to the Province Lands. Protected and preserved by the National Park Service, the National Seashore offers panoramic views, majestic lighthouses, wind-swept beaches and miles of trails for hiking and biking. At the tip of the Cape is the eclectic community of Provincetown, where local fishermen, artists and craftsmen live side-by-side.
